I Can't Stop A Train

I hear the whistle blowin’, midnight in my soul,
Steel wheels keep on rollin’, got no way to slow.
I’ve carried every burden, I’ve felt the weight and pain,
But no matter what I’m holdin’, I can’t stop a train.

I can’t stop a train, once it’s bound to ride,
Thundering through the darkness, on the other side.
You can stand in the tracks, but the truth remains,
I can bend, I can break, but I can’t stop a train.

Smoke risin’ higher, fire in the night,
Shadows on the crossroad, but the rails are tight.
Every mile behind me, every scar and stain,
It all fades in the thunder — I can’t stop a train.

I can’t stop a train, once it’s bound to ride,
Thundering through the darkness, on the other side.
You can stand in the tracks, but the truth remains,
I can bend, I can break, but I can’t stop a train.

The engine keeps on callin’, the past don’t hold the key,
The future’s wide open, and it’s draggin’ me.
You can beg for mercy, but it won’t explain,
Why love can be broken — but I can’t stop a train.

I can’t stop a train, once it’s bound to ride,
Thundering through the darkness, on the other side.
You can fight with the wind, you can curse the rain,
But when the whistle is cryin’… I can’t stop a train.

Steel wheels keep turnin’…
My soul’s on the line…
I can’t stop a train…
Not this time.
